Muse Wonder ships with a 1,048,576-token context and multimodal input at $4 per million input tokens — and Artificial Analysis scores it 52 on its Intelligence Index, six points behind the Opus 5.5 it is priced against.
Meta has been telling the market for a year that it fell behind. On 12 October 2026 it published the answer: two models, one of which it calls a frontier model, sold at exactly the price of Anthropic's flagship.
Two models, one launch. Meta introduced Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full as its most capable models to date, aimed at "personal and professional agentic tasks" and described in the announcement as the next step on its scaling ladder and a leap toward what the company calls personal superintelligence. The model card dates the release to 12 October 2026 and gives the spec sheet: text, image, video and audio in, text out, and a 1M-token context length at inference. Meta's own developer docs are more precise — a 1,048,576-token window, PDF input included, reasoning effort selectable from minimal to max, and the model is explicitly labelled a preview under the identifier muse-wonder-1.0.
The company behind it is 14 months into a rebuild. Meta says it began a ground-up overhaul of its AI effort fourteen months ago and that both models were trained at its gigawatt-scale Prometheus data centre (announcement). That framing matters: this is not an incremental refresh of Llama-era tooling, it is a new model line with a new name.
The headline features are memory and persistence. Active Memory carries context about you across conversations and retrieves what is relevant to the task at hand; Active Focus keeps the model working on a hard goal — trying alternative routes, working through blockers, asking for clarification and checking in before consequential actions (announcement). Meta evaluates those two behaviours on MemoryBench and FocusBench, and sustained software work on SWE-Marathon. The developer docs describe the operational version of the same idea: plan the work, delegate parts to sub-agents, call tools in parallel, recover from errors, and drive browsers, desktops and mobile apps (docs).
Where you can get it. Muse Wonder is available today on the Meta Model API and inside Muse Code; it is also reachable through OpenRouter (overview). Muse Wonder Full — the stronger of the two — has no API offering at all: the docs table restricts it to Muse Code's Power Usage and Maximum Usage subscriptions, and notes that cranking Muse Wonder's reasoning effort to max does not select it. The Muse consumer app gets the model next, subscribers first (announcement).
Meta says the series reaches state-of-the-art results across benchmarks for personal and professional agents, memory and coding, and compares its models against GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Opus 5.5 at max reasoning effort (model card). Read the methodology note in that same document: competitor runs were generated internally, and Meta describes them as "best-effort", since prompts, tools and runtimes may not be optimally tuned for rivals' proprietary models.
So the useful number is the third-party one. On the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, Muse Wonder (max) scores 52. Claude Opus 5.5 scores 58; GPT-6 Astra scores 53. On price, Artificial Analysis lists Muse Wonder at $4.00 per million input tokens and $20.00 per million output — the same rate card as Opus 5.5 — where GPT-6 Astra sits at $10/$50. Cost per completed Index task flips the ranking: $4.52 for Wonder, $5.98 for Opus 5.5, $3.26 for Astra. Meta's own docs add two pricing details worth knowing: there is no long-context premium (a full 1M window costs the same as an empty one) and web search grounding is billed at $2.50 per 1,000 queries.
Two caveats stay on the record. Meta calls Muse Wonder its most aligned model to date and claims its strongest safeguards so far against chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and cyber misuse — while stating that the full safety report with additional evaluations will be published later. And unlike Muse Glimmer, which the docs list as the open-weight, self-hostable line, Muse Wonder's weights and parameter count are not public (docs).
We build the evaluation layer that settles exactly this argument. For Indian SMBs and mid-market teams we stand up your real task set, run it across Muse Wonder, your incumbent model and one cheaper alternative, and come back with cost per completed task rather than a benchmark table someone else wrote. Then we wire the winner into your document pipelines, support automation and internal assistants with caching, retrieval and monitoring in place — so the next launch post is a pricing decision you make in an afternoon, not a migration you dread.
If you are already paying per token this quarter, the useful question is what your workload costs on a model chosen by measurement. Talk to us and we will benchmark your own tasks against Muse Wonder, price it at your volume, and tell you plainly whether Meta's frontier entry is worth switching to or simply worth using as leverage.
